The Hunt for Gollum and technoligy
The Hunt For Gollum is an unofficial not for profit short film by a group of enthusiast filmmakers. Because they are not associated with the cinema and are making the film as a non profit fanfilm, it can be released over the internet. The makers say they are making this purely for the enjoyment of the material and the experience of making a high quality low budget film. Production began in early 2007 when writer-director Chris Bouchard started adapting the script from the Appendices of The Lord of the Rings." This production has been open to everyone for collaboration, and as a result, the passion for this project has drawn together a diverse blend of working professionals"
and the reason why this had been done is that they had some money like 3grand for basic masks for the orks ( and considering the make up artist didnt get paid from this) and they had to film in england ( agian note that all scenes had to be put through several computer inspections to make it look middle earthish) and yet the system they used was proffesionel but was free down to budget constraint, in all fairness it was a decent film with a convincing enough galndalf and also along with the orks scenes where good enough to be in the actaully film, but it is also to be noted that down to smeegle being completely CGI they had most of the time with him in a bag and is noticeble that the bag size changes

shaun of the dead and other statistics
Shaun of the dead
Funding ? Well it did not get any funding from the UK film council but did get funding from big talk production and film four international who is funded by channel four and ITV along with lottery money
Budget?$4,000,000 (estimated)
What was the companies behind the their production? Revolution Films, Working Title Films, Canal,Plus ,Arri Media ,Arri Lighting ,Sapex ,Technicolor Digital Intermediates ,Sargent Disc Ltd ,Marshall/Plumb Research Associates Inc ,AON/Albert G. Ruben Insurance Services ,De Lane Lea ,Animated Extras ,Bickers Action ,Double Negative Visual Effects ,The Moving Picture Company ,Big Talk Productions, WT2, this seems like quite a big list but this does include lighting and other effects you need for a good film such as Shaun of the dead
Who where the distributors? Universal pictures
For universal picture is pretty clear that it is global company because it’s a globe lighting up,
Well universal have dome many films in the horror category such as the Blair witch project and dawn of the dead along with the famous American pie franchise and the terminator franchise, film four has made many good British films like east is east and four wedding and a funeral
Well for film4 they have the slogan films worth talking about , which suggest they try to be edgy and new and they have made some film like that
Well the Shaun of the dead website is on the host of paramount pictures, it uses the same lay out in the DVD (being the pub in red and black colour) so it tries to market the film by adding extra features such as interactivity along with special features such as downloads and extra features like character interviews
The synergy between the film is quite interesting because in the DVD extras they have an entire disk to background information along with other features like storyboards and how they planning different ways on making the films. They released a CD with many music scenes from the film which did sell well along with the DVD and the general theme to this they continued the theme of black and red with zombies, they had a long campaign for this film because of the amount of money involved, along with a comic strip to go with the film,
Despite this film was not backed by the ukfc its shows a good example of British filming and British humour along with many over reviews and had 91% on rotten tomatoes and considered best British comedy since the Monty python and flying circus .
And what makes the film interesting is that most of the character was from spaced and they did come together and that was showed in the film when two sets of characters and they both collide to be a reference to spaced which did get noticeable after Shaun of the dead and the continuing after shaun of the dead with hot fuzz (which performed incredibly well at the cinema)
This film had gained cult status and have performed genuinely well in America and had in total of $29,629,128 in international gross alone and not adding DVD numbers
Audiences- which age are most important for cinemas? Well in 2009 it was most frequent that was young adults and teenagers, 40% of 7-34 age group provided 64% of the top 20 films,
Which specific age group has the highest rates of monthly attendance in the cinema? Was 15-24 at 40%
How did download activity compare with cinema attendance? This study was carried out by FAME (Film Audience Measurement and Evaluation) the survey included questions about film downloads from the Internet (which is illegal), and it showed that overall it was half of film attendance and in particular the 15-24 year old had the most % of downloaded films to cinema attendance at about 50%
Which UK films appealed to this audience of 15-24? It was Bruno at 60% which is impressive considering it was an 18 due to its scenes of sexual nature. And after this was the hangover, and its not that surprising because it is films which appeal to this group along with fast and furious.
Other films?
The boat that rocked(48%), lesbian vampire killers(48%) and as i say again that these film are aimed toward this type of audience so it does have also a 15
Which films had a crossover audience appeal to the younger and older audience?
Well Bruno appeared at top in both 15-24 and 25-34 which isn’t the greatest age gap but other films are hard to put in this question. On the other hand films like the boat that rocked did appear in both 15-24 and 45-54 age category
Look at are there any familiar or unfamiliar film title and if they had any ukfc funding ,
Well in the loop a spin off to the bbc series based on the Iraq war politics in the Whitehouse and Britain was backed by the council and the bbc through a new cinema fund
What sort of success did it have at the box office? Well it received positive reviews for its British wit and tackled the subject well with good humour, and on the IMBD it had 7.6 out of 10 from 13,538 votes,
Is there a figure for the budget? £612,650 (estimated)
Who where there distributors? It is BBC film (because they made the TV series) along with optimum release (which is a British production) along with IFC films an American distributor.
Official website? Well for “in the loop” it has an blog for it and other one include the makers of the film and distributors
Optimum release has made other films and documentaries and few i have seen like Michael Moore (which are all reasonable popular in America) and American splendour so this does suggest that despite being a British company
How does it try market the film? Well on the website it shows the trailer and some background information on the film and backup information form the telly show it was adapted for.
Synergy? Yes it show some deleted scenes while along, and for a short time they had a continuing blogger about current affairs, as in other films like slumdog millionaire and the godfather have all had good selling audio tracks along.

Working Title Working Title are a conglomerate with Universal Studios (work in conjunction with each other, one funds the other Universal fund s Working Title) , hence the larger film bud gets ? rumoured to be contractually allowed to have a bud get up to $25 million. This is the main reason behind the fact that Working Title can create man y films of a different variety, and include big household named actors, and use large effects etc. Working Title are the company behind man y successful films such as, Billy Elliot, Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead , and Ali GI inda house. Working Title was found in 1983, by Tom Bevan and Sarah Rad clyffe, and is now basedin London but has offices in Ireland and Los Angeles .Working Title has its own subsidiary company called WT2 Productions, and have been i volved in many films for example, The Calcium Kid.

How does the funding this is England illustrate the convergence is critical for the UK film industry ?
Well ill start this of by saying what is convergence is where groups and individuals with money who combine to make a project, for this is England is was produced by Shane meadows who was did other films in this genre of English conflict (also based on ethnicity) . And this was mainly backed by the UK film council and film four which is funded through the government and lottery money and in total it was 27million money given to English cinemas and the figure for film 4 was 10 million. And this all ready shows that its important for big companies and government agencies to work together to progress some huge amounts of money, and as in the UK film council such as the development fund which cost 15 million squid which I have talked about before which did help shifty be created though professional help with mentors and development of all areas in the film such as script and cinematography which is crucial to secure decent low budgeted to survive, this is backed up by the new cinema fund is like the same but in that The New Cinema Fund encourages unique ideas, innovative approaches and new voices. The fund is aimed at financing films with passion and verve that connect with a broad range of audiences (it gave 66800000 money to this is England). In one of the subsidized by the ukfc is screen Yorkshire who played a quite big role in this is England along with warp films who are Sheffield based and there approach for film making and with people who have individualist views and so give financial support and along with being involved with music videos and also helped in Shane meadows dead man shoes before this is England.
there was another point to make about film 4 because they did make

shifty
but this film did get some good reviews saying that it was a good british film and a decent acting along with situation people could relate to make a genrable decent film as it say on the poster
at typical situation in the film |
i think its a good film but the ended needed a clearer ending and overall the characters in the film could be enhanced better and more jokes and less of random sidetracking in the film
